Music Director, Pianist, and Conductor Mila Henry maintains an active and versatile career as both a freelance artist and the Artistic Director of The American Opera Project. Comfortable leading from both piano and podium, she prefers not to separate styles, but to blur boundaries.
July 2020 - I have been grateful to focus on a couple digital projects as of late. Earlier this month, I lead an at-home recording workshop for AOP's Letters That You Will Not Get by Kirsten Volness, Kate Holland & Susan Werbe, and August was destined to have some Cinderella– while R&H's Cinderella was canceled at CLOC, I'll conduct La Cenerentola with Opera on Tap's (virtual) Playground Opera program.
March 2020 – It was a pleasure speaking with Indie Opera hosts Brooke Larimer, Walker Lewis and Charles Sachs earlier this month, alongside AOP General Director Matt Gray. Listen in as we discuss what we do, what we've seen and why it's "The" American Opera Project.
Welcome to my new website! I am grateful to Ellanyze web design (owned by longtime friend Janelle Reichman) for the fresh look. I hope you enjoy learning more about both sides of my career—freelance MD/Pianist/Conductor and Artistic Director of AOP—and thanks for visiting!
